Duckey (Duckster) Duck
I am a duck, a mallard duck to be exact. And my passion is writing. When I grow up, I want to be a hot-shot journalist. For now, I’m happy writing my stories for The Duckey Daily. I cover all the news around the pond, but not in it, because I’m terribly afraid of water. But please don’t tell too many people. It’s kind of a secret.
What was your reaction to being asked to write the story of the Ocean Protectors?
I thought that Christopher Clam was playing a joke on me. There are some great journalists covering the ocean stories: Barbara Waters, Sandy Beach, Katie Coral-Reef. I’ve only been a small duck covering a small pond.
What happened to you when you joined the Ocean Protectors at sea?
Suddenly, my fear of the water wasn’t nearly as big as my fear of losing the ocean.
Are you still afraid of the water?
Let me put it this way, I’m not ready to go surfing with Murdock... yet!
What will be your next big story?
That depends on what the Ocean Protectors have planned. I can’t imagine any story more important than their adventures!
What was the biggest lesson you learned during this last adventure with the Ocean Protectors?
Each of us has a talent that is very special. Look at me, I’m a duck that’s afraid of the water. I’m always the last one picked for sports and games. But my writing skill made me the choice of King Neptune. And all of my new friends, well, they’re not like super-heroes when you look at each of them, but together, we made a difference. I think the lesson is that you are special and you can be someone if you believe in yourself.
