Thank you for taking the time and energy to consider using "Duckey and the Ocean Protectors" as a resource for helping preserve our oceans and environments, and as a way to encourage kids to realize their special talents, to work as a team and to know that "if you believe it, you can achieve it!"

- Ways to study spelling
- Simple punctuation and capitalization
- Refining manuscript handwriting
- Writing independently in manuscript form
- Brief and simple letters and journals
- Narration, description, letters, poetry
- Increasing skill in handling books: table of contents, and index
- Using meaning clues to aid comprehension and make predictions about content (e.g., pictures; picture captions; titles; cover; heading, story structure; story topic, action; events; character's behavior)
Included in the Chapter Lessons are also references to Black Line Masters to encourage children to work independently. You will find those Masters at the end of this curriculum.
